It took 10,000 kilometres and 12 months to transort Aaron Sheppard by bicycle through 20 countries. The adventure was staeted to quench the author's curiosity of the world off th beaten track, but what unfolded became more than just an adventure. The day to day interactions with people, some living in politically unstable and war torn lands, changed the way the author saw the world.
The above is the back cover of the book and it is hard to believe it has been 13 years since I finished my great bicycle experiment and 3 since the book was published, It is just now that I begin a website in support of it. Where di time go.
I originally wrote the the book because many peope had suggested others would be interested about the adventures I had, This website is similar in that I've had amazing feedback from many who read the book and suggested a place where I could post photos and incorporate further stories.
This project will be a bit slow getting started as it is going to require time in front of the computer, something I don't come to do much of. Many thanks to those who have supported me in this endeavor. The book does well and a constant stream of mail makes me happy I did it.
My wish was that just one person would red the book and take up cycling as an alternative to traditional tourism and many have thanked me for the inspiration to mount a bike and see parts of this great planet.
I for now have put down the bicycle and at some point may pick it up again however my memories and experiences live on in me and have continued to influence me strongly to this day.
